This recent batch of adds due to this approach hasn't done so well - especially LQDT and GEOS - although both are small companies encountering unanticipated shocks largely attributable to their smallness. With a little bit of hindsight using this methodology for a while now, it seems larger companies seem to be smoother sailing with this approach. Not sure if it's just the sample set that I've been exposed to (very possible as this process should work better for small caps), but I'm leaning toward only committing larger % of funds to larger cap companies in the magic formula universe, and only dabble in the smaller ones until I have a better feel. At this time, the things I look at in evaluating companies just seem to work better for companies that are larger.
