The behavior of the federal government on this issue is despicable.
Nevada Senator, Governor Join Critics of Bundy Ranch Roundup
As a silviculturist on a national forest, I was involved in a grazing issue: A sheepherder wanted to run a herd of sheep on my district, in an area where I was trying to repair a huge reforestation backlog that was created by my predecessors when they applied inappropriate methods in the High Cascades.

This proposal was advanced through my superiors, and I objected. We went out and evaluated the environment and the potential for grazing damage to the conifer reproduction.

I reluctantly agreed to this proposal on a trial basis. The sheep herder brought his sheep in, but he was so afraid that he would cause damage and be shut down he kept them moving. Apparently, they did not prosper--they didn't gain enough weight, or whatever it was that he wanted.

He never came back.

This situation in Nevada is entirely different. The cattlemen have been in business for longer than the federal agencies that are trying to shut them down. The agencies can't show accurately where the boundaries of the grazing units are, and if they did know it would be impossible to prevent the cattle from crossing over accidentally.

Sending swat teams out to round up and confiscate the cattle is essentially treating the cattlemen as criminals. They do not deserve this.

The government is once again trying to impose control on something that is doing no real harm to the environment, and is providing an economic benefit to the nation.

Control. That's what this government wants. Total control. Justice and common sense have no place here.
