I've hoisted a few around (for meetings) and they are awkward but not that bad. I think if the ol' adrenalin was flowing I could do it. But the author's point was the "victim mentality" that students are being taught - don't defend yourself, go for help, wait for help, etc. I know that I'd start looking around for something to stop that kid, but I'm a different generation.
