It is rather silly to make a father "defective" for being dead while ignoring the role of the mother. Because be starts as a Catholic with a de facto vision of a male "god", he adventitiously weaves a theory to dovetail with his silly premise. One could just as easily claim that poor motherhood prevents people from embracing deities such as Selene, Cybele, or Aphrodite?
No doubt, parenting affects the child. This is not new. Does poor parenting, however, prevent a child from embracing irrationality and superstition? I think not. It is more likely that an unpredictable and irrational parent (male, female, or both) would provoke a tendency to escapism and delusional thinking. Indeed, we find that deluded people who become anti-social menaces to society, often "blame" their condition on defective (or perceived to be defective) parents.
So Paul Kitz is weaving a tapestry that seems capricious at best. No doubt, he is revealing what is going on inside his own head, and irrational people will find comfort and support in his wincing delivery.... |
