PALO ALTO, Calif. -(Dow Jones)- Bay Networks Inc., which sells communications network-management products, said late Wednesday it stands by its fiscal second-quarter statement for revenue to climb sequentially and earnings to meet Wall Street's estimates.

The Santa Clara, Calif.-based company (BAY) reiterated the comment in the wake of a rating cut from Donaldson Lufkin & Jenrette to "market perform" from "buy."

In October, as the networking-equipment company reported its fiscal first quarter, Bay Network officials said revenue should grow from the first to the second quarters, but not as fast as the 11% increase from the fourth to the first quarters.

Bay Networks on Wednesday also said it was comfortable with Wall Street's mean estimate for the second quarter of 26 cents a share.

Bay noted its exposure to troubled Southeast Asian markets was relatively minimal. Only 4% of sales come from Asian and Pacific Rim countries, a spokesman said.

In a research note, DLJ analyst Stephen Koffler said he was concerned hub product sales would be flat in the quarter and router growth will have slowed as the company's new Accelar switch is cannibalizing sales.
