Unless you're typing a lot, I can't think of anything the average Joe needs a computer for.

That's interesting, because about the only thing I find an iPad useful for is when I'm traveling and need to use Maps, or as a diversion, to play games on or surf – all as (poor) substitutes for my iMac.

I prefer the larger screen real estate of a computer. All that squinting and pinch-to-zoom on an iPad was an exercise in frustration on a recent trip, and forget about typing on it without a physical keyboard.
