<< | <<I know some very successful women. I know one who is the CEO of a large corporation; she is married and very much a family oriented person. >>
I never said or implied women couldn't do both. But be careful about using one person to prove anything. I have two daughters, a lawyer and a scientist. The lawyer (UC Berkeley and Loyola law) mostly stays home and raises the children (two kids) . She is 100% a family women. Her husband is a physics professor and they live a modest life on one income. Their choice.
My other daughter, the scientist, has no children and lives a much more academic life. She is the administrator of a large organic fertilizer company and does graduate work in science at night.
Many ways to live ones life. But in the past women didn't have choices. That was my only point. Women never in all of history had as much power and self actualization as men until, NOW.
Because of dad's and mom's like me who always had a sign on the wall that said: "you do not need to marry a doctor, you can be a doctor. And emphasized education from day one.
The liberals all worked hard to empower their children, boys and girls equally, with education.
>>"We have always had that bad stuff."<<
<<Not this bad. The worsening conditions can be directly attributed to the loss of kinship culture. Kinship which extends to friends of family was once as common as trees in the forest and was responsible for such things as keeping an eye out for vulnerable members. The only girls/women who were exploited or targeted for victimization were those who were known to be loners... rapidly, as you proudly report, loners are becoming the status quo.>>
Steven Pinker in his book the nature of our better angels says this is the most peaceful time in all of history. Anthropologists guess 25% of all people died in war over the last 10,000 years.
Education brings peace like nothing else.
<<Human trafficking is a criminal business that profits from enslaving people for sexual servitude and forced labor. It is the fastest growing and second largest criminal industry in the world today (second only to drug trafficking and tied with illegal arms), according to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.
Children exploited through prostitution report they typically are given a quota by their trafficker/pimp of 10 to 15 buyers per night?Utilizing a conservative estimate, a domestic minor sex trafficking victim ?would be raped by 6,000 buyers during the course of her victimization through prostitution. – The National Report on Domestic Minor Sex Trafficking: America’s Prostituted Children, Shared Hope International, May 2009, page 20.>>
that has always gone on.
