Sounds like an average Joe to me.

But the point is we really don't know what the average Joe NEEDS or PREFERS. It does seem to be somewhat clear that less people are choosing iPads (cars) than some predicted and more people are sticking with desk or laptops (trucks.) And I think thats the point.

We are debating as proxies for the average joe, rather than looking at statistical analysis which would be more accurate. But money talks and that's accurate as hell.

Of course the story isn't over yet. Maybe pads will slowly replace PCs now that the initial rush of first adopters and people who can afford all devices, is over.

------

I'd love it if I could get by with a $500 iPad rather than a $2000 Mac, but I can't. I keep trying to figure out how I could but I can't. I use my computer to:

Use word for work documents, invoices - like most small business owners
Do my Taxes
Build and maintain my website, which means photoshop, dreamweaver and bb edit - like most small business owners
Write music (Logic Pro)
Download music (I have a separate external drive for that)
Convert music (usually FLAC to ALAC)
Edit video

It would be pretty hard to do any of this on the level I do it at on a pad

What I could do on a pad is:

Calendar
Plan trips
Research
Check TV
email/web etc

But its a lot easier on a 27" screen.
