One thinks Augustine only humbled himself, you think the idea of "divine grace" was anything new? Systems of ethics, morals, codes of behavior, ritual offerings, sacred sacraments, ceremony, burnt offerings were made for consideration of judgement in the afterlife already for 1000's of years in Egypt, they set the gold stanard for these things.
This aspect of human activity is more than well documented, you should study more then you'd learn you're only a small part of a long similarly constructed chain of such human behaviors, remember "denial" is a river in Egypt. |
