You just don't want to admit Maddow's argument doesn't hold water in face of what went down.

I'm not and never was convinced there were WMD's both because of Hersh's reporting and my knowledge of our satellite cabability (can see a quarter on the desert floor) and I knew if there WMD's out there they would eventually find them and they would have had pictures. The fact that no pictures existed was very telling to me. Furthermore our regular intelligence services looked for WMD's and told the WH they couldn't find any evidence of such.

This is when Wolfitz and company went to the Pentagon and formed their own intelligence group and relied on the report of the "planted" (planted by the Iraqi nationalists who wanted us to invade)) Iraqi defector by the code name of "Curve ball" that Saddam had WMD's at various locations. German intelligence, who debriefed Curve Ball, told us Curve Ball's info was very suspect and could not be considered reliable.

So for the above reason's I never personally bought into the WMD story.

My point is, and always has been, is that "W" didn't receive this info (that Curve Ball's intell was suspect) or if he did receive it the info was coupled with other intell that made it look the German assessment of "Curve Ball" was wrong. In other words the briefings that W received were devoid of accurate assessments of the existence of WMD's and he genuinely believed in their existence based on the info he was receiving.

Now, I may be wrong about this is light of Bentway's find about the allegations of 'W's" ex-treasury Secretary that the WH had plans for the invasion of Iraq from the beginning predating 9/11

We first have to hear what the guy has to say on 60 minutes this coming Sunday (what a bombshell if true!)

Then we have to hear what if anything the usual suspects in W's administration have to say about this.

Then after that evaluation I may have to admit I was wrong about my estimate that W was merely naive or duped. So stay tuned.

In other words I'm willing to change my opinion in light of new facts if warranted. You should consider doing the same with respect to Maddow's oil conspiracy theory in light of the fact we never received any Iraqi oil.
