The only reason I decided to try chrome OS is because it seemed it was a simple way to find a test/learning case for installing a VM with virtual box. My primary goal was to explore features of the interface of virtual box and the Dom0 of ubuntu. I did not expect chrome to be useful in my normal curmudgeon ways.

I looked at nas. I found it simple to install a 2T drive on my router. The problem I had using NAS as part of any computer with an OS I was using was that video streams would hickup. Gates OSes far worse than linux. The router NAS works fine.

The only other consideration was 24/7 power costs for whatever. I use a mybook whatever. samba or a mygroup shares sees the drive on linux of Gates OSes.

linux mount.

mount -t cifs //192.168.1.1/route-share-2TB -o username=.......,password=....... /Cisco30474/route-share-2TB/

I have it mounted as X: on my xp machine.
