Appreciate the input, Ken. Didn't know that. My background is entirely onshore. Oil in the Illinois Basin and now (mostly) gas in the Appalachian Basin.

Question: Are those coiled tubing reels that large because so many offshore wells, drilled in the past 15-20 yrs, are much deeper than the average onshore shale reservoir and therefore require both more casing AWA larger diameter casing for the 1st few thousand feet below the well head?

If the answer is yes, why can't smaller reels be fabricated for flatbed truck transport to onshore pads?
