Unfortunately, the Central Authority isn't usually very good at rationing anything because it uses a meat cleaver instead of Mr. Obama's preferred tool, the scalpel. No matter how good the intent, the reality is government just doesn't have a more finely honed tool at its disposal.

There is lots of collateral damage when government attempts anything like this -- whether it is rationing health care or managing benefits for the poor or collecting taxes to pay for it all. It is the proverbial bull in the china shop at everything it does.

There are a number of things happening today that are cause for great concern. If I had to pick one it would be the limited provider networks in the exchanges. If employer plans use the same "cost saving" approach we're going to see the development of long waiting lines for routine care, I believe.
