An atheist is not saying they know there is no god. Any rational person would know better. Heck we don't really know much at all, so how could we know for sure? An atheist is saying they don't "believe" there is a conventional/classical god. There might be one? But I am pretty sure there isn't. Now smart sentient beings are probably pervasive throughout the universe. I don't mind the god thing except that they always want us to do what they believe in and more often then not it is some crazy stuff. Like reject science, or stone women to death for having sex outside of marriage or the tribe. Or burning witches. I really get pissed when they burn witches; and even more pissed when I see FOX defend them.
