Yeah, I wasn't agreeing with him about his statement -- just questioning whether it makes sense to have an arrangement where some people are placed on the public dole in this fashion. One of the Obama administration's goal has been to desensitize people to the notion of living off the work of others, to make them feel that it is okay. This is just more of it -- to install these subsidies in such a way that they just happen by operation of law is just one more case where people are made to feel okay about having other people pay their ways. Obama did this with food stamps, and it is how they were able to so quickly double the distribution of food stamps. There were significant populations who resisted food stamps on the basis that they didn't believe it was the "right" thing to do. Obama created entire programs around "educating" these populations about how there is no shame in taking food stamps. It is part of a propaganda campaign that is working and that no one is doing anything about. There SHOULD be shame in being on the public dole. If there isn't, there is nothing to stop people from abusing the programs for the poor. There should be shame in getting on disability if you aren't disabled. But I have a relative who did it. It has never even occurred to him that it is wrong. He's a liberal, was a union member all his working days, and when he got ready to retire his butt went on disability. Took him several doctors to get there, but he got there. Now, it is all fishing, all the time.
