Jurgis, thanks for your comments, but I find them a little dismissive, and unfairly so - did you read my blog post in full? I think you will find that my WTW pick is not some lazy repetition of well-worn bull arguments. FWIW any stock idea I post on this or any other forum is only proposed after carefully considered and lengthy research, and an honest interrogation of my investment thesis.
Regarding your point on peer pressure - you answer your own question - yes I am very aware that apps offer a community/peer support angle in the form of message boards and forums, but no they do not offer the same "weight" to use your term, of peer support. That is why they do not work over a meaningful time frame - WTW's is clinically proven to work precisely because it offers this.
Regarding lifespans for apps, any number of Google searches for app lifespans shows a range of 1 week to 1 month, e.g. in Apple App Store, average lifespan is 23 days:

This lifespan also has a bearing on the efficacy of free apps - weight loss requires extended time and effort to achieve; downloading an app with the best of intentions and following it for a few weeks and then giving up when results are not apparent is the reason apps will not displace properly administered and supported weight loss programmes, of which WTW is the long established market leader with a global brand.
To be clear, I am not simply repeating the "bull" case as you dismissively suggest - the facts appear to support my thesis. I welcome any and all counter arguments, but please offer constructive feedback. |
