What's wrong with this argument is that it doesn't address price elasticity. Basically these folks still think of NG production as primarily an exploration activity instead of what it has now become, which is basically a manufacturing activity.

Yes, if you cap NG price at say $4, then a few years from now I could see production decreasing. But there is such a big spread between oil and gas on a BTU basis and so much resistance coming to coal use that there is plenty of room for upward moves in NG prices. And with higher prices will come higher production. That's now the nature of the beast.
