As a matter of English grammar, "A well regulated militia, doesn't modify or place any limitations on the rest of the amendment. It only provides a justification for it.

If the right was the right of the militia they would have written "the right of the militia" or "the right of the members of the militia".

Beyond that if it was a right of the militia, the militia at the time was basically the adult male population, and according to federal law is

"all able-bodied males at least 17 years of age and, except as provided in section 313 of title 32, under 45 years of age who are, or who have made a declaration of intention to become, citizens of the United States and of female citizens of the United States who are members of the National Guard."

If you are a member of the National Guard then your a member of the militia, but most males from 17 to 45 who are not part of the national guard are also members.
