Your post made me chuckle.

I went to the bank yesterday and asked the teller to give me ten $10 bills for my one $100 bill. I was so excited to walk out with ten times as many bills in my pocket!

(That sums up how excited I am about share splits...I don't think there are many people want to buy Apple stock but can't meet the ~$550 minimum).

Similarly, my teller told me that I had earned $1 of interest on my account, and he offered to give it to me in cash instead of keeping it in my account. I was so excited to walk out with the extra dollar... so much richer!

(That's how I feel about dividends... merely hands money to you so you can decide what to do with it, rather than entrusting the bank/company/investment vehicle to reinvest for you.)
