Sorry if I'm butting in.

I've thought of the same, and then possible using the proceeds to buy leaps.

One of the things that stops me is that selling the long term Puts does not maximize the "time value premium" that is sold. I could sell the near term put several times and get more premium I believe.

Of course, you would have to sell at a price you don't think you will get put at, or else roll it forward.

Please consider and let me know what you think. If I am wrong, I am the first that wants to know!
