When Hawk wrote that, I had the same thought. And wondered about "projection" as being a psychological mass function, like the mass hysteria over the BP/Transocean/Blowout preventer accident. Americans know that Russia and Putin are the bad guys because they have seen Rocky 1, 2, 3, 4 and can remember something happened in Ukraine when Stalin was boss and when Lenin and co took over much of Asia.
