The issue is the unrestrained growth of the administrative state.

True but that trend has been going on for 50 years. It started with LBJ's Great Society and war in Vietnam. I remember as a kid going to DC in the 1970's was a far different place than today.. The wealth and power concentrated in an around DC is stunning.. Do also notice globally most of the wealth and power is concentrated in the large coastal cities like never before. Financial engineering and the move away from rewarding labor and move toward financial engineering really jump started started with trickle down and declining rates under Reagan and now for two cycles under both GWB and Obama we are left with the fed and ZIRP to reflate assets to keep the party going so J6P can consume above is income via added debt. Over 40 years after we went off the gold standard the fed thinks they have it all figured out even as the real economy continues to be crowded out and wealth disparity, gateway city home prices and stock market averages are at all time highs..There is lots of blame to go around.
