How about a pie sliced into 4 pieces priced at $5 each = $20 or sliced into 8 pieces Logically the "market" should pay $2.50 each for $20 Doesn't always work that way. Seller might get $3 or $3.50 = $24 or more A good comparable to AAPL's split is Berkshire Hathaway BRKb from several years ago. The split gave a considerable bump to the stock
