4/25/14 Contest update
Blame it on the two ‘P’s! Together they’ve scared off the oligarchs, both Russian & American variety. So who else is left to buy stocks?
Thanks in large part to Sarepta’s surge (held by 7 portfolios) the Contest median did manage to eke out a gain for the week, closing up .70% YTD (vs. up .61% YTD a week ago). The Nasdaq Biotech Index, down -1.19% YTD (vs. down -2.06% YTD a week ago), also managed a tiny gain for the week, but the Nasdaq Composite Index, down -2.42% YTD (vs. down -1.94% YTD lost ground.
Helped by ECX.DE & GWPH, GENE’s portfolio, up 32.10% YTD, held on to the Contest lead. Boosted by a 20% allocation to SRPT, ROCKY’s portfolio, up 29.64% YTD, jumped into second place and GUERL’s portfolio, up 27.50% YTD, slipped to third place.
At Thursday's close, 24 of the 46 Contest portfolios were in the black, while 25 of the 46 were beating the NBI. As was the case last week, the median Contest portfolio stock (ABIO) was down -4.76% YTD.
