I know of it and I think some of my devices are compatible, but I'm not too knowledgeable. Will it work with Chromecast? XMBC would run on the MyBook Live?

Looks like XBMC can be installed on Chromecast, though the current solutions are a bit of a kludge. I believe it would then pull the data from the MyBook Live, you wouldn't install XBMC on the MyBook directly. Just Google "xbmc chromecast" and you'll find a couple of YouTube videos with instructions about how to set it up.

I think one way it also works is for the XBMC server to stream to a Chromecast, but I don't think that would work with your setup since you don't have a home theater PC setup (HTPC). That's if I understand everything correctly. This is all new to me, so I'm learning as I go.

Thank you for all the detail on the Slingbox working with NFL Sunday Ticket. As I think I mentioned before, I can't get DirecTV at my place due to both homeowners restrictions and lack of proper line of sight for the satellite dish. So, I'd be the one relying on the Slingbox's capabilities to use it.

As with most signals, there are ways to boost reception using good antennas, boosters, etc., but you may still be out of range.

Yep, I'll have to research it more. I hear the quality of OTA (over-the-air) video is outstanding, since it isn't compressed like you get with satellite or cable.

Looking forward to hearing more about your experiments!

I'm definitely looking forward to the testing. Unfortunately, it'll probably be at least late June before I have enough of the pieces assembled to do it, but I'll post here with my results.
