but I don't know whether it was candy or not.

So the anecdote really isn't relevant.

And there was a young adult who consumed some edible marijuana and ended up jumping out a window to his death and another guy who killed his wife

Adults. Also no apparent connection to candy.

For the adults how many more do something dangerous or harmful after drinking. Even adjust for the larger consumption of alcohol and I would think its still probably a higher number.

But lets pretend that it was all kids and all because of candy anyway. It still pretty much amounts to nothing. Show me something on the scale of pool accidents*, and then maybe I'll take the issue seriously.

What you call "the obvious" just seems to be bad optics, with no actual evidence of any harm, let alone the type of serious harm that would be needed to call on the government to "do something about it".

I don't have any proof there's any significant harm to a large number of children from letting them gamble in casinos or go to strip clubs either so I guess those things are all okay too.

To make the analogies a good one you would have to be arguing that because we don't want kids gambling and going to strip clubs that we should shut down casinos and strip clubs, rather than making an adults only rule.

I find the idea that marijuana merchants who produce lookalike candy products are doing so for an adult market laughable.

I find the idea that they are doing it primarily to target kids totally unsupported, maybe even close to laughable. Significant business from kids would pretty much result in the business being shut down. 99% of the legal (at least according to state law) marijuana business want nothing to do with kids. If the one percent (or less) try selling to kids, go after them not the product in general.

*Roughly 5,000 children 14 and under go to the hospital because of accidental drowning-related incidents each year; 15% die and about 20% suffer from permanent neurological disability.
