Yes, many indoor location systems include WiFi. Some solutions also use a dead-reckoning system that fuses MEMS gyros, accelerometers and magnetometers. This feature is one of the ideas behind "sensor fusion." Also, there are companies which are looking at adding RFID chips and BlueTooth Low Energy tags to help with the indoor location estimates.

Although some people think that GPS can't work indoors, it can, but its solution will get worse as one moves deeper into a building. GPS will not likely work in subways or underground parking garages.
