>>I noticed that no one has responded to my assertions that Jaz2 is an obscenely overpriced mistake. In my Mac Connection , it is $740 for external. I nearly fell out of my chair laughing when I saw that, because SyQuest 1.5 Gig SyJet offers "3 Gigs for $300", and an external PP SparQ drive w/disc is $199 with 3-pack extra discs for $99. That's 4 GIGS for $300!<<

Rocky -

You really have to stop buying from Mac Connection. The Jaz2 list price is $649 for the external and $549 for the internal.

Now I happen to agree with you that the pricing for Jaz2 is too high.

On the other hand, since as you note the SparQ offers 4 gigs for 300 bucks, why would anyone by the SyJet which offers only 3 gigs for the same money?

Answer: They might need the additional capacity per cartridge.

So if they need more capacity than 1GB per cartridge, they might need 2GB. Especially if that 2GB drive could also read/write the 1GB cartridges used where they work and play, in Jaz drives.

Now here's a question for you. If Iomega's recent 25% drop (give or take) from its highs of two weeks ago means that everyone has figured out that the company has no future, what does Intel's >30% drop over the last few months mean?

Of course, my question is facetious. No need to answer. But I notice you never answer my posts anymore. I'm guessing it's because you have no arguments with which to counter mine.
