The context of our discussion was why atheists have "significantly more lifetime suicide attempts and more first-degree relatives who committed suicide than subjects who endorsed a religious affiliation." Even in extraordinary circumstances, suicide is taking the easy way out. It requires substantially more courage to persevere in the face of adversity than it does to simply kill yourself. Suicide is the cowards way out.
