Sell in May and Go Away?

While history suggests this summer could be rocky, equity investors may want to focus on sectors that do well year-round.

The researchers conducted their research using Fidelity's Select funds, identifying five individual sectors that on average performed just as well during the summer as the winter: Fidelity Select Consumer Staples (ticker: FDFAX), Fidelity Select Leisure (FDLSX), Fidelity Select Multimedia (FBMPX), Fidelity Select Retailing (FSRPX) and Fidelity Select Utilities (FSUTX). Of course, many other ETFs are also benchmarked to these sectors.
