Any chance of the majors changing the game from overpaying billions for developed properties and instead buying up junior exploration companies, a controlling interest, or doing joint ventures on projects that have substantial potential?

The argument against a change is the insignificance of any of these deals to the big picture.

But the big picture has really become an ugly picture.

Goldcorps buyout of Virginia Mines Eleonore project painted a pretty picture.

Placer or a predecessor company found Barrick's Pedro Viejo.

Newmont has its' own interest and a JV in Haiti.

Be great if some of the giants would just buy controlling interest in the juniors, leave them alone, supply cash when needed and justified instead of paying inflated prices and rewards to departing management teams that agreed to acquisitions.
