FEP is a good insurer.

That probably contributes to my being so cranky about Medicare. I'm used to being welcomed with open arms by any and all medical professionals so had come to expect it. I knew that Medicaid patients didn't get that treatment but I assumed that everyone else did. Then came Medicare and all of a sudden I was a stepchild. Didn't like that at all. Particularly didn't like that fact that I couldn't use any provider I wanted even with my own money. I consider that a scandal and a violation of civil liberty principles in addition to the practical impact. But now that I see how constrained most of those new Obamacare patients are with their narrow provider lists, I realize that the practical impact could be even worse. Medicare patients at least have the opportunity to have a go at--and be turned down by--any provider in the country. They may be constrained indirectly because of poor payments but at least they are not directly constrained by intentionally limited networks.

Wasn't ObamaCare supposed to increase access? Hmmmm.
