Diana Cansino, a Microsoft spokeswoman, told the Star-Tribune in an email that demand for online and cloud services is growing.

"This is an extension of our presence in Wyoming to ensure the best possible delivery of cloud infrastructure and services to Microsoft’s current and future customers in Wyoming and the surrounding region," she said. "The current design scheme will employ a massive network of underground fiber - enabling increased data capacity and reliability."
