What is going on here that you do not see Darwinism always at play here, you can't be that much of a child, try to open your mind to reality for once.
One cannot even begin to imagine the constant that was mass ---->human suffering that has always been in play as human populations always continued to grow. Always that quarreling between the emerging empires/superpowers over territory with death & fighting constant, just like any jungle you can name. It was a time of absolute power by enlightened despots, (just like the Pharoahs of old), an absolutism that was as hard on the backs of the poor based on the end justifies the means ideology to bring on that percieved golden age.
