What bothers me with Germany of today.
Some history - for close to a millennium what is now the Federal Republic of Germany, where in actuality a conglomerated of smaller States from the disintegration of the Roman Empire into numerous independent states, such as Prussia, Bavaria and Saxony.and the Deutschordensstaat (the Hanseatic and Teutonic States)
This resulted in a culture of small warring States upon the tradition of the German tribes at the Battle of the Teutoburg Forest that decisively defeated the Romans. Not until the industrial revolution of around 200 years ago would Germany emerge as a united state which included Prussia. The Industrial Revolution modernized the German economy, led to the rapid growth of cities and to the emergence of the Socialist movement in Germany. A unification of the small States was achieved with the formation of the German Empire in 1871 under the leadership of Prussian Chancellor Otto von Bismarck.Prussia, with its capital Berlin, The state grew in power.

The problem I have with Germany since this period that from having as many of the Germanic states warring between themselves, they actually directly or indirectly started exporting the concept of war for resources which indirectly started two World Wars and which in both cases was strongly supported by the by then modern and efficient German Industrial Concerns or big corporations that where established after the industrial revolution that swept the various Germanic States and the territories they settled.

From this period - a fast forward - today Germany indirectly by not applying harsh sanctions on a state that is bend into the practice of illegal land grab by pure military or covert force, from other nations for the last millennium, is fomenting a new instability in Europe for the simple reason of Germany industrial concerns to make money and profits due to their insensitivity to human dignity or suffering or loss of life or in a nutshell to profit on the expense of human sacrifice.
It is my personal opinion that this insensitivity and blind pursuit of economic profits with total disregard of human rights or human suffering is the basic problem of the German Society, and this time it is sternly reflected in the opinions expressed in public or even their own actions by of former German Cancellors like Helmut Schmidt and Gerhard Schröder or Corporate Chieftains like those of Siemens, who are totally insensitive to what is going on in Ukraine and continue to promote the pursuit of monetary profits by the German enterprises on the expense of the Ukrainian people with dear consequences in the future for other E. European nation and the world as a whole.
It is my personal opinion that this is the essence of the German problem which was only amplified due to the atrocities of WWII when in essence at that time all the German actually wanted, was to increase their industrial profitability and as such need more "lebensraum" and substantial more raw, materials.
And by doing this with total disregard of human rights or human morality with arbitrary enslavement of other nations which to them justified the desire of more prosperity and profits for their industrial concerns the Germans established.
I only find only one explanation in their conduct and this is their nature and character that is hereditary since the Battle of the Teutoburg Forest and possible before, as reflected in the expansionist actions and the trampling of other small nations by Tzarista Katherine the Great of Russia who was actually the daughter of an Prussian General from Pomerania.
It seems to me some nations never change in their basic character or the pursuit of riches, only in their technological advancement changes, which in this case is the totally blind and insensitive pursuit of material well-being and monetary profit by any means even if morally marginalized or out of humanly acceptable norms. |
