I threw away a penny today. I swept it off the kitchen floor with crumbs, dog hair, bread bag twist ties and dust.

Since when did a penny become trash to me? My answer: when my pride designated it as worthless and my laziness designated it as not worth my time to collect. A penny is money. And more pennies are more money. And I threw it away.

Since when did I discount that which was created to be counted?

Since when did I start discounting others?
Since when did I think I could discount something by appearance alone?
Since when have I been looking for the big moment that I discount all the small ones?

I threw away a penny today.

Since when did the least of these become items for the waste basket?

And once again He uses the natural to teach supernatural truth.

Jesus said, "The King will answer and say to them, `Truly I say to you, to the extent that you did it to one of these brothers of Mine, even the least of them, you did it to Me.' Matthew 25:40
