There is no doubt that is the case where free markets are involved. Unfortunately, the law as it now stands kills any free market aspects to the program.

No, it's just a regulated market, like almost all others. Just because automobiles are regulated to the hilt, it doesn't mean the industry isn't a free market. Ford still competes with Toyota, within a framework. And the framework, though more constrictive, can make the market even more competitive.

Seriously I-node, I can't see how you can say getting the buying decision closer to the end user is a bad thing. Assuming that happens, and insurance becomes a personal expenditure rather than a employment benefit, you guys should be happy. That's what all the conservatives here have wanted all along. The trade off is a little more regulation of the product.
