Other goodies in the Ring of Fire, unknown jewellery boxes yet to be discover.
Dear MacDonald Mines (BMK-V) Enthusiast,
The long awaited announcement on April 28, 2014 by the Ontario Government that it would commit $1.0 Billion to develop an all-season transportation and power corridor into the James Bay- Ring of Fire (“ROF”) region is great news for all stakeholders. The area, located about 500 kilometres northeast of Thunder Bay, is home to one of the world’s largest and “richest” chromite deposits.
The lack of a transportation route has severely impacted the development of the ROF region – identified as one of the most significant mineral regions in the province. Cliffs Natural Resources Inc. announced the halt of the planned $3.3 billion development of its Big Daddy Chromite Discovery in November 2013 citing the uncertain timeline and risks associated with having the necessary infrastructure in place to bring its project online.
Ontario’s infrastructure pledge is good news for the region and for MacDonald Mines. Our Butler Property, located 47 kilometres south-west of Webequie, Ontario is presently only accessible by float plane or helicopter.
Quentin Yarie, MacDonald’s President and COO stated “There is certainly the potential for discovering a world-class Volcanic Massive Sulfide (VMS) deposit at Butler and the construction of a road and associated infrastructure will be extremely beneficial to our project as we continue our exploration program and further develop the property. We trust that it will also bring sustainable economic benefit to the First Nation Communities that we work with in the ROF region”.
