Health Exchange Enrollment Ended With a Surge UPDATED May 1, 2014 More than eight million people signed up for private insurance in federal and state exchanges during the initial enrollment period, exceeding the administration’s original goal of seven million. The period officially ran from Oct. 1 to March 31, but the figures also include those who signed up in a special enrollment period through April 19. Related Article nytimes.com
