US policy on sanctions against Putin's oligarch friends is interesting. The sanctions are already having a dramatic effect on Russia as evidenced by the flight of capital out of Russia, and the inability of oligarch's and their companies to carry on business and bank transactions. I expect this will force Putin to either back down or press ahead sooner than later. If Putin does press ahead, I for one hope one of the responses by NATO is a surgical strike with cruise missiles, flying low below radar, launched from NATO bases in eastern Europe and nuclear submarines, to take out Putin, the Kremlin, KGB and the top oligarchs. Should Putin invade Ukraine, cutting off the heads of these pit vipers is the only way to bring a major military escalation to a halt before a full blown WW 111 broke out.
