British Muslima: 'Still alive' while boyfriend beheaded her with kitchen knife

Reema Ramzan.South Yorks Police

April 2, 2014

"She like me but I raped her ..."

An 18-year-old woman in the North of England was recently discovered by police decapitated apparently at the hands of her boyfriend, and a jury was just told by prosecutors that she was still alive as her murderer carved her head off with a kitchen knife, as reported by both The Sheffield Star (of Great Britain) and the Brietbart.com news portal on April 2, 2014.

Even while clothed in her Islamic hijab, it was obvious that Reema Ramzan was an attractive young woman who sported more than a winning smile, she also faced a promising future as a student at Sheffield College.

But all that came to an end when Reema's body was found last June in a Sheffield apartment by local police with "severe knife attack resulting in fatal injuries, including the severing of her head."

Confessing to "manslaughter on the grounds of diminished responsibility" but denying the more severe murder charge, Aras Hussein, 21, a native of Iraq, was apparently the beau of the murdered girl.

When police responded to a call of a woman "screaming for dear life," Reema’s decapitated corpse was found "slumped on top of her passport and discovered £1,640 ($2,725) in cash in her pockets."

The victim's brother, Sohail Ramzan, testified that the family wasn't keen on his sister's relationship with the confessed killer.

He described to the jury that he has seen her return home on one occasion "crying, crying her eyes out" following an argument with Hussein.

The abusive boyfriend once spouted off to the brother, openly stating "he would do what he wanted."

Further testimony revealed by the elder brother "I saw red marks round her neck, loads of redness. From the way he was talking he thought he was entitled to do what he wants."

Prosecutor details the killing ...

Prosecutor Graham Reeds, QC (Queens Counsel) told jurors that a post mortem revealed Reema had been "stabbed in the shoulder, the shin and had injuries on her hands which were consistent with self defence."

"Bruising into tissue wounds suggest that Reema was still alive as the defendant started to remove her head," Reeds told the court.

The prosecutor for the Queen had the dour responsibility of relaying the rest of the grisly details to the court:

The process of decapitation would require considerable motion with corresponding considerable force which needed to be sustained.

Force would also be needed to restrain the victim who is likely to have been struggling.

Reeds also testified that "Hussein was then spotted outside her flat, naked and with blood pouring out of his chest. He told emergency workers: 'I don't know why I did it,' adding 'She like me but I raped her.'"
