This 08/12/13 OGJ "piece" was my "introduction" to Pioneer Natural Resources.

OGJ had an article (a sort of an end-of-year "wrap-up" / did you know ? - piece) ... that listed the ten most copied and / or e-mailed or "tweeted" (on "Twitter") articles from 2013, and ...

this "Wolfcamp play dwarfs Bakken, Eagle Ford" article was the number 1 article.

(So ... it was probably many other peoples' "introduction" to Pioneer Natural Resources.)

Also -- right after Pioneer "made their splash" at the Unconventional Resources Technology Conference,

"all of a sudden" ... I noticed hearing about Pioneer / Spraberry Wolfcamp in Barrons, on CNBC (repeatedly), in John Mauldin's (widely circulated) e-mail service, and ( I think) also on Bloomberg TV.

PXD shares ran up to their all-time record high of roughly $227.00 in late October, 2013 ... I think -- mainly as a result of all of the publicity.

Surprisingly, this "bombshell" comment :

"50 billion boe in recoverable reserves"

has now been "superseded" by PXD's statement (recently) of : 75 billion boe.

BUT ...

this time, I never heard about it from any of "the usual sources," but only noticed it when "slogging" through the PDF from a recent Pioneer presentation.

(So, therefore, the shares of PXD have not done anything particularly interesting lately.)

Jon.
