Gliders take fuel to tow them up high to then catch thermals which do give free altitude, so that's a way to get more time in the air without burning even more as you do in your continuously powered flight. You would use less if you didn't do all the flying.

Sorry bud but my glider I currently fly get's launched with a electrically powered winch. With the cheapest hydropower in the country it just makes sense to get rid of the towplane!

A 2500' winch launch uses about 15 cents worth of electricity.

But we do have a towplane as a backup for those few folks that do land out from time to time. I've never had to use it. But when I do instruct students and transition pilots I do use it but I don't pay for it.. The people I instruct do.

The Tesla took a lot of carbon to make it and needs more to run it. Even if you are getting electricity from a nuclear reactor, you are displacing other electricity users who could be using that electricity instead of coal.

No coal power here. No Nukes either. Just 100% hydropower with my utility.

Clean, sustainable power sources for thousands of years.
