WE, the US, have both the legal means to do so and the capacity to pay for it. All the rest is just a matter of political will. Where did you get the idea that we have the capacity to pay for anything? We are trillions and trillions of dollars in debt and we don't even count the unfunded liabilities of the government. This country is bankrupt and it is just a matter of time until the house of cards comes tumbling down. Which is worse? The possibility that mankind will destroy itself with excessive CO2 emissions, or the *certainty* that the vast majority will starve to death when the economy implodes? That is the decision that the world has to make. There is no other alternative available to us. The reason that we are in this fix is because hardly anyone ever thinks of the unintended consequences of the world's policy decisions. Failing to think through the issues rationally and not just emotionally is not just idiotic, it is criminal. Blessings, SOJ
