that project you're referring to showed some highly TRANSIENT evidence of some sort of plankton bloom. In other words the effect was very temporary.
You really have not concept of what Iron fertilization (natural or man-made) consists of, do you?

Because you show your ignorance with EVERY post you make on the subject..

Here.. let me explain it to you..

Iron is heavier than water. That means that it sinks.. The smaller (finer) the Iron particles, the longer it will remain at the surface after being deposited by the wind, or churned up from the ocean depths in an upwelling. Iron must be at the surface in order to be available for botanical production of Chlorophyll, which is necessary for photosynthesis.

But eventually it WILL sink to the bottom of the ocean. I guarantee that.. (so long as the law of physics remains in effect).

THEREFORE, even in nature, availability of Iron at the ocean surface is TEMPORARY AND TRANSIENT.

IT WILL EVENTUALLY SINK AND NEED TO BE REPLACED BY A NEW SOURCE!!

That's why phytoplankton blooms are ALSO temporary and "transient", dependent upon availability of the nutrients they require to grow. They can have all the sunlight, water, and appropriate temperatures, but without nutrients, they don't grow. And even with an abundant supply of Nitrates (HN/LC zone), WITHOUT the trace amounts of Iron they cannot synthesize Chlorophyll which they require to make their own food..

en.wikipedia.org

And without the ability to manufacture food, they cannot reproduce. And therefore, they are not available for additional photosynthesis, or to be consumed as food by Zooplankton, which are then consumed by fish and whales. No photosynthesis, no sequestration of CO2 or production of O2

Look.. it's no different in the human anatomy.. Iron is a TRACE ELEMENT that is ESSENTIAL to formation of Red Blood cells.. Without it, we're anemic.. We must have it. But we're constantly losing it and having to replace it with a new source.

Therefore, when humans consume Iron, it is "transient and temporary".

Eating less food will NOT reduce our bodies demand for Iron (or any other trace element we require to sustain ourselves and utilize other nutrients).

Bottom line.. when you don't consume sufficient vitamins and minerals into your body, you augment by "dumping" vitamin supplements to provide what you body requires to function..

Or are you know going to outlaw Vitamins?

Maybe you're going to try and outlaw ships from sinking too? Or require a permit giving them permission to sink, or charge them with "ocean dumping"..

Really now.. Stop trying to use your BS regulatory tyranny to prevent us from restoring the ocean flora that sustains the entire Marine food chain.

Study up and come back better prepared the next time.
