My wife's Win 7 laptop has suddenly decided that printing isn't a task that it is interested in performing anymore. It will not print a test page or anything from Word, the internet, anything. The error message is always "printer not responding.

My PC (Win 7 also) is connected directly to the printer and it works. My two daughters' laptops, one using Win 7 and the other using Win 8.1 are able to print through the network. The network seems to be connected on my wife's laptop.

I've tried the following on the underachieving LT:

Deleted the printer and reinstalled using the same driver to no avail.
Deleted the printer and reinstalled using an updated driver to no avail
Rebooted the laptop after these two previous tasks to no avail
Turned off the printer, disconnected the cables and plugged everything back in, to no avail
Made sure that all previous printing tasks were deleted so as to not clog up the system, to no avail
Rebooted once again because, what the hell, computers can be finicky and what didn't work previously might suddenly work this time even though it's a rare thing in MY case
Poured a glass of wine to ease the stress of having to fix a Windows problem yet again, to no avail

The troubleshooter doesn't see any problems even though looking at printer properties>maintenance>view printer status gives me the same "printer not responding".

I'm getting ready to reboot this glass of wine because that looks like the only thing that's really working.

Any thoughts? Has anyone had this experience before? Am I missing something really simple (usually the case)?

Thanks, I appreciate any input
