This is a cop out, such "monstrosities" did not happen in vacuum, were in every case a continuation of previous unrest & terrible fomenting social conflicts due to oppression & descrimination. And which monstrosities again and how are they differing from 1000's upon 1000's of other "monstrosities" that occurred in every previous year.... of every previous decade, of every century going back 10,000yrs?
When hasn't there been racial & tribal violence, war, aggression, hatred & oppression? Competiton for land & territory, maintaining military dominance & exploitive expedition that resulted in massive human slavery or human decimations? The Ancient Egyptians look better & better all the time, perhaps time for a return to sane simple Sun worship? <heh>
There has also been an equal amount of good/progress happening concurently with secular scientific discovery that we see, and the most charitable giving now is coming in from the enlightened super wealthy secular. People are turning away from the archaic forms of superstitious religious dogmas, the unprecedented numbers are increasing every year.
