Mr Thomas Kennedy reports Rock Resources has an option to earn up to a 70% interest in the Coiron property in Region IV, Coquimbo, Chile. The Coiron property area is along a 70km long northeasterly linear trend. That trend contains the El Bronce epigenetic vein deposits to the southwest, several variably explored alteration and breccia zones near the centre and the Los Pelambes and El Pachon deposits 31km northeast of the Coiron property. The Coiron property hosts a substantial exposure of evidence indicating that it may contain a world-class porphyry copper deposit. The porphyry deposit at Los Pelambres reportedly contains more than four billion tonnes of copper mineralization, hosted within a potassic alteration zone directly beneath tourmaline-bearing collapse breccia and surrounded by a halo of phyllic (sericitic) alteration. Mineralization and alteration exposed on the Coiron property is the same type as that exposed above the ore body at Los Pelambres. The field work for the environmental baseline study of the Coiron property is completed and the report is being readied.
Road construction is continuing on the property and completion is scheduled for early January 1998. Negotiations with drilling contractors are currently under way to ensure drill availability to meet the company's scheduled January commencement of drilling.
In July 1995 the provincial government of BC (in the process of creating 80 new provincial parks) expropriated numerous mineral claim blocks in BC. At that time the province represented that affected parties would receive fair compensation. Rock Resources' only asset at that time was a group of four mineral claim blocks (the Amber property) in the southeastern interior portion of the province. The creation of the Goat Range Provincial Park through the expropriation process rendered the company's Amber property valueless.
Rock Resources has attempted in good faith to negotiate a fair compensation settlement package with the province for approximately two years. Given the unreasonable delay in being compensated Rock Resources has had no choice but to give instructions to its legal counsel to commence legal action this month with respect to receiving fair compensation for the expropriation affecting its four mineral claim blocks (the Amber property) by the provincial government in July of 1995.
