Humans can pretty much kill off most things in about an hour on this planet.
Nah.. I doubt it.. There would always be a place where life will continue..

It wouldn't look the same as it does now, but you'd be surprised how quickly life recovers..

It's just likely that WE would not recover so quickly..

Let me tell you a story.. I traveled to just below Mt. Merapi in Indonesia last year. It had had a very serious eruption back in 2010.. I heard stories from people living nearby that it left several feet of volcanic ash on many of their houses (those closest to the volcano) and surrounding jungle.. .

But when I went there, you would never have known that a volcano had erupted just a few years before. The jungle was flourishing, fertilized by the ash..

An Merapi is just a baby.. they say that Mt. Pinatubo was 100 times bigger..

And heck.. look at Mt. St. Helen's, up in your area. How is the ecosystem recovering there?

Now.. just imagine another Toba eruption (which they say could literally again happen at any time..).. It's caldera is 100 kilometers long.. (google Lake Toba)

So while you're worried about a Nuclear Winter, maybe you should be worrying a bit more about a Volcanic Winter instead..

Those are REAL examples, not theoretical scenarios..
