We have such overhang and it's great. But at night, the heat flows back out. Heavy curtains help. A serious person would have no windows, with insulation everywhere.

Why not have windows?

The net gain from them during daylight hours provides all the heat the house needs.

It's possible to have a well insulated house and windows and not require a heating unit.

That technology has been around for many, many years.

And it can all be passive.

No electricity or fossil fuels required.
